Sep 10 – The Allagash—New England’s Wild River

The Allagash—New England’s Wild River

Join us on Thursday, September 10, at 4:00 p.m. for a special History by the Lake program with Maine author, humorist, and retired ranger Tim Caverly.

Tim spent 32 years with the Maine Department of Conservation, serving at Sebago Lake, Aroostook, and Cobscook Bay State Parks before becoming regional supervisor of the Allagash Region. He supervised the Allagash Wilderness Waterway for eighteen years and came to know the river, its history, its wildlife, and the people who traveled and worked there.

Through music, scenic and historic photographs, and firsthand stories, Tim will take the audience on a virtual trip down the Allagash. The program will explore Native American archaeology, forgotten logging history, river travel, wildlife, and some of the lore, legends, and characters Tim encountered during his years as a Maine park ranger.

Tim and his wife, Susan, have self-published fourteen books for children and adults and have presented hundreds of educational programs throughout New England. His books will be available for purchase and signing following the presentation.
