We’re Hiring: Associate Director
The Moosehead Historical Society is seeking an Associate Director to join our small, dedicated team. This is a part-time, year-round position — approximately 20 hours per week — reporting directly to the Executive Director.
The Associate Director is a generalist role at a working historical society. You’ll staff the Lumbermen’s Museum during the regular season, assist with visitor services at the Eveleth-Crafts-Sheridan Historical House, help care for our collections, support programming and events, and assist with communications and outreach year-round. During the summer you’ll help supervise staff and volunteers at our Junction campus. In the winter you’ll work primarily from the Center for Moosehead History.
This isn’t a behind-the-desk job. On any given day you might be greeting visitors, cataloging artifacts, posting to social media, or helping set up for a program. We’re a small organization and everyone pitches in.
What we’re looking for: We’re not requiring a specific degree or background. We are looking for someone who is friendly and professional with the public, genuinely interested in the history of this region, reliable and organized, comfortable with computers and social media, and willing to do whatever the work requires — including the unglamorous parts.
Prior experience in museums, nonprofits, or customer service is a plus but not a requirement. Schedule flexibility, including occasional evenings and weekends, is needed.
To apply: Send a letter of interest and a resume to Luke Muzzy, Executive Director, at luke.muzzy@mooseheadhistory.org or by mail to P.O. Box 1116, Greenville, ME 04441. Applications will be reviewed as received.
