It is with a heavy heart that we at the Moosehead Historical Society & Museums remember our beloved Gracia Isabelle Eisman.
Born on April 13, 1929, in Guilford, Gracia passed away on February 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire us.
Gracia’s journey with us began when she retired and moved seasonally to Greenville. She quickly became an integral part of our organization, serving on the Board of Directors for many years until she stepped down in 2003. Her passion for history was infectious, and she used her innate ability to make history fascinating and fun to create exhibits and teaching demonstrations that brought history to life for people of all ages.
From 1988 to 2003, Gracia served as our Head Docent, a role she embraced with enthusiasm and dedication. Even after stepping down as Head Docent, she continued to serve as a docent at the Eveleth-Crafts-Sheridan Historical House until her retirement in 2015. Her commitment to our organization was unwavering, and her contributions were invaluable.
In 2009, in recognition of her tireless service, the foyer in the Eveleth-Crafts-Sheridan Historical House was dedicated to her. This dedication stands as a testament to her enduring impact on our organization and the community.
Gracia’s life was a testament to her passions: politics, history, helping veterans, and reading. She was a beacon of knowledge and inspiration, and her influence will continue to be felt in the halls of the Moosehead Historical Society & Museums. We are grateful for the time she spent with us and will strive to honor her memory in our continued work. Gracia Isabelle Eisman, you will be deeply missed.
