Greetings from the Moosehead Historical Society!

Dear friends and fellow history enthusiasts,

Allow me to introduce myself—I am Luke Muzzy, and I have the privilege of serving as the Executive Director of this remarkable institution. Nestled in the Greenville, Maine the heart of the Moosehead Lake Region, our society is a treasure trove of stories, artifacts, and memories that weave together the rich tapestry of our region’s past.

As a lifelong resident of Greenville, I’ve witnessed the ebb and flow of time—the changing seasons, the whispers of the wind across Moosehead Lake, and the enduring spirit of our community. Each artifact housed within our walls carries with it a piece of history—a connection to those who came before us, their struggles, triumphs, and everyday lives.

Our mission extends beyond mere preservation; it’s about breathing life into the past. When you step into our museum, you step into a living narrative—a place where the past dances with the present. Whether it’s the weathered tools of lumberjacks, the sepia-toned photographs of steamboats gliding across the lake, or the handwritten letters that bridge generations, every exhibit tells a story.

And what a story it is! From the early Native American inhabitants to the intrepid loggers who shaped our forests, from the grand hotels that once graced our shores to the hardworking families who called this place home—the Moosehead region has a tale to tell. It’s a tale of resilience, of adaptation, and of the enduring bond between people and the land.

As we delve into the annals of time, we invite you to join us. Explore our exhibits, engage with our passionate volunteers, and let the echoes of the past resonate within you. Perhaps you’ll discover a connection to your own roots, a spark of curiosity, or simply a sense of wonder at the intricate threads that bind us all.

And so, dear visitor, whether you’re a seasoned historian or a curious traveler passing through, know that you are part of this ongoing saga. The Moosehead Historical Society welcomes you—a custodian of memories, a seeker of stories, and a steward of our shared heritage.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we’ll continue to unravel the mysteries of time, one artifact at a time.

Warm regards,
Luke Muzzy
